Twice in one week I have had a skunk get in my fenced back yard with my dog. Other than the smell I am worried that there might be something wrong with this skunk. I have a very large dog and you would think after the first encounter that the skunk wouldn't come back. Anyone here have any experience in the best way to get rid of skunks?

I put out a live trap out Saturday night and didn't catch anything. I also sat out on the front porch and could see the skunk roaming around on the hillside of my front yard but he wouldn't show his head long enough for me to shoot him. Any good ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can't just shoot it? If you don't want to kill it throw some #6 it's way.

The trap baited with tuna fish will work eventually.
I've heard fox urine dripped around the perimeter will scare them off as well, but I've never tried it nor can I substantiate the results.

I put a can of tuna in the trap Saturday night but it didn't work. I will try again this weekend. I've gotta do something because my dog keeps running it under his dog house and it is spraying the back of my house like crazy and the smell is starting to get in my basement.

Had a skunk set up camp under my house for bout a week. Tried to trap him no luck. Ended up putting a radio with loud music and flood lights under house! It worked! But U have to keep that in place for bout a week after he leaves because I took my stuff out too early and skunk came back! So I would suggest turn on all backyard lights and add some loud music might be disturbing a bit but better than smellin SKUNK!!
