In the market for a side by side. Will be used primarily to just get around on my property. Will be driven on mild slopes mainly but will need to be capable of climbing steep ridges while carrying feeders and feed occasionally. I have two young kids and a wife so I'll probably need a 4-6 seater. I like the Kawasaki MULE and the fact the bed extends when the rear seats aren't being used. Is the 1000 really necessary over the 560? Not trying to buy a beast, just enough to handle what I need. Any recommendations?

I own a Yamaha viking. 2017 love it. 3 seater 700cc.
Never has an issue with it.

Honda Pioneer has extra seats in the bed that fold down when not in use. A good SXS

560 would likely be fine unless you’re planning on pulling a heavy trailer.

However, finding one might prove to be harder than expected.

Also, look at a Deere gator and a Kubota RTV. The kubota has a diesel motor and a hydraulic lift bed. It’s slow but stout.

Please post if you find any that will be in before next hunting season. I’ve been on the same search myself. There’s a couple good threads from last year on the OB you might want to read.

Might have to go the used route then?

probably need a 4-6 seater.

Drive one and test its maneuverability before purchasing. Some of the 4-6 seaters turn like a school bus and suck in the woods.

Can am defender. The single seater holds 3 adults across comfortably. 2 adults and 2 small kids fits decent too. I think the bigger one really limits maneuvering in the woods but if that what you like go for it. I got the basic HD8 defender and added the roof and windshield. It was the least expensive at the time and had great reviews.

Good luck finding anything in a crew cab model. I've been looking and everything is a custom order only. Most dealers I've talked to are saying orders are about 4-6 months out. A buddy just got a Kubota and he ordered it in August.

Kawasaki makes a two seater and the bed can extend across back seat when needed.

Not to hijack but do you have one. I am planning on getting a sxs this fall and have been dead set on a pioneer 1000. My cousin says that they have a JD and it has 16k miles on it and they were getting another one.
Use will be working at deer lease and not really worried about high performance but more interested in reliability and ease of maintenance.

I don’t but I have a little experience.

My wife’s grandfather has one that is one of the very 1st. He uses the heck out of it on his cattle farm. I’m guessing it’s 20-25 years old.

My dads best friend who also had a cattle farm keeps one or two. He’s had them for years.

Must be an on sight supervisor for the Louisiana Highway Department. There is always that one sitting and watching.

I'm on my second Polaris Ranger and my next will be a Mule. It's more practical for work\hunting for me.
