The steering on my boat turns to the right just fine, but steering to the left my steering rod doesn't go all the way into the tilt tube and there's about 2" of the steering rod sticking out when turning to the left and it tends to get stuck when turning that direction as well. I disconnected the steering rod from the motor and the motor turns fine without it, eliminating that something on the motor was sticking. Appreciate any advice y'all can share.

That has always been a bad/about to fail cable in my boats. You can try to get grease up into the housing, but you probably need new cables.

As already said, its probably about to fail, will rub through the covering/housing soon, or will break. Not good to happen out on the water. Save yourself some trouble and replace it.
