Who has figured out how to eradicate these wood boring bastards? I made some of the traps with the glass jar and they arnt working. They are at my grandparents old house My dad and I have killed 100s with tennis rackets. Last count was over 400 just this year. Last year was around 600 all together, it doesn't seem like we have put a dent in them at all. We have sprayed all kinds of shite to no avail. Thanks for the help.

No experience with them, but I have seen traps for them. Try this maybe.

Now my experience I had them building in my backporch, and found out if you fill their holes with automotive silicone they will kill thier self trying to eat through, caulk or home silicone didn't work, they dug it back out

Came to post boat paddle with holes drilled in it to make it aerodynamic, but sounds like you got that covered.

I bought a can of that spray glue for carpet. I'd sit under my carport and barn and drink beer spraying them. That glue guys them and they are done. If one lands on a hole you can put him in his tomb. So much fun

Dawn and water is the best wasp spray there is. I'm not sure if this will work with carpenter bees but it is an inexpensive fix if you can figure out a way to make it work. I throw a bucket full at the nest and keep a spray bottle for the individuals.

I put a blasting cap in a carpenter bee hole once. Once.

Silicon worked for me as well, but I had the typical tube from home depot.

Suspend also works but it has to be reapplied every 3 or 4 months (use the correct concentration). Becomes a PITA maintenance item which I don't always remember to do.

Badminton racquets instead of tennis racquets, less weight and more maneuverable.

We got swarmed every spring for years. They were mainly in a wood fence.

I started spraying Talstar for mosquitoes last year, and that seems to have done in the carpenter bees as well.

You can buy it pretty cheap on Amazon. Mix 1 oz. per gallon and spray.

Spray all wood with Taurus SC. It's expensive but it'll keep all bees and wasps from nesting for months.

What's the correct concentration?

I used 1.5 oz. per gallon in my pump sprayer, and I'm not saying it didn't work, but i doused one particular spider and it took a looong time to die. I was hoping for more instaneous results.

We always just used Bengal Roach Spray in the holes, and then paint over the holes after a day or two. You have to re-apply every so often, but it's pretty inexpensive.

My in-laws' neighbor at their camp on the bayou made these traps that consist of a small wooden box with a clear 20oz coke bottle screwed into the bottom and a 1/2" or so hole drilled into the side at an angle into the box. The bees go in through the hole and then go down toward the light/bottle. Once in they are trapped and die. He has about a half dozen of them hanging around his camp and has just about wiped them out around it.

I can second these traps. We have several hanging on the porch of our cabin and they fill up quickly.

They don't repel the bees, but at least it keeps them from drilling into your timbers.
