If you want the best looking truck, get a Dodge.
If you want a decent truck for hauling, get a Ford Chevy.
If you want a reliable truck, get a Toyota.

They oughta be glad a sport like me would consider such Japanese foolishness, much less offer me a deal "at $2K off of MSRP."

There is a reason their default is not 13K off MSRP.

A big reason Ford sells so many pickups.

F150...first year of an all new bodystyle - no thanks

I agree with this and I always caution against it, especially when coupled with a new engine. In this case, the engines are carryover, IIrC.

That said, I bought the 2011 KR ( new engine and body) and it has been relatively troublefree. I did have to do a mod to the door seals for wind noise, though.

Like everybody else, I am better at giving advice than taking it.

I bring this up b/c while it's true Toyota's retain value really well, you're gonna pay more for them OTD.

Same here. Too impatient lol.

Was 2011 that big a change with the F150's though? I honestly don't remember.

I wouldn't disagree with this.

Very true.

That being said, I know where a sweet deal is/will be on a 2013/14 Tundra 1794 Edition 4x4 if anyone is in the market.

It's still expensive, but considering what they MSRP for, it's a solid deal...and a pretty badass truck.

2009 was the last "big" change in the F150............and it wasn't a huge change.

I don't believe so. They don't run on quite the same cycle.

Go with the F150 with the 5.0.

It's a proven motor, while the eco-boost isn't.

The turbo scares me too much to buy one.

The ecoboost was in the Taurus before the 5.0 even came out

I have f150 with 17k on it. Ecoboost is a great motor which I feel is proven. It's been around longer than most believe. If you drive conservatively you will get great MPG which I tried to do the first few months. Then my old habits kicked in and as said earlier the MPG is nothing to brag about especially when towing. It's definitely got some gitty up and can tow like a champ

Thanks for all the replies, I was on the road for a bit. But, it will be a 4 door/crew cab. I don't mind if it is a bit used. I don't really want anything over 15k miles. I have looked from Baton Rouge all the way to Houston for deals, and I find there are much better deals in the Houston area. My next question is, I wonder the interest rates are on the used trucks. I know a while back Ford was offering no interest on their brand new trucks but the same offer didn't apply for the used. If that was the case I would go with a new truck. I am heavily leaning towards Ford I just want to make sure there isn't something another truck can offer that the Ford can't. I am very interest in the Ecoboost but just like another poster said, I am suspect about this being the first year it is in the F150's. How much better will the gas mileage be in the ecoboost vs the 5.0?

Not the first year for it. The 3.5l Ecoboost was introducted in the F150 for 2011. It's a good motor, but gas mileage in a 4x4 is maybe 1 or 2 mpg's better vs. the 5.0.

IIRC, Ford has a new smaller Ecoboost motor that will be an option in the 2015 F150 alongside the already in existence 3.5l Ecoboost and 5.0 V8.

Personally, I wouldn't have any qualms with owning an Ecoboost truck...but I just prefer V8s, so that's what I would actually buy if in the market.

Best advice: Go test drive them all and see what you like the best. They are all good trucks - except Nissan because they are super outdated.

both have ecotec which is like ecoboost.. and i will go ahead and say it.. both interiors shite all over fords, i had 3 different friends with 2012 fords and all ended up taking then back for interior junk breaking from door panels to seats tearing.. nothing but junk. I got the ltz and its like a cadillac inside, and rides like one also.

I'm assuming you mean in terms of MPGs? Cause comparing them side by side, they are not even close to the same thing at all.
