I got a question for all the pistol enthusiast.
At what distance do you shoot the most?

will outshoot me all day long
this is the thing, i don't want my weapon to be the weak link in the equation, i want to be the one to frick up if theres an issue. that being said, there isn't a person on this board that will outshoot a glock

lets go shoot for accuracy, you use your glock and i'll let you pick my pistol
I actually read the NRA Magazine they send to my house....

For the past three years, one type of gun has dominated the equipment list at the Int’l Defensive Pistol arse’n National Championships. IDPA collects a detailed equipment survey of all the shooters in attendance at each National, and the numbers don’t lie. The Glock reigns supreme. In fact, Glock pistols have become so popular that it is now entirely possible to build an entire “Glock” from the ground up that uses no actual Glock parts whatsoever. While that’s rare, what is common is for shooters to take their factory Glocks and improve “perfection” a little bit by adding a part here or a part there.
Sorry for Partying...

A lot guys who shoot 1911's really well have trouble transitioning to Glocks...
This has some truth behind it, but not for the same reason you think it does.
My first handgun was a Beretta 90 two. The 90 two and the 1911 have a couple things in common, but one of them is shared with almost every other pistol platform - grip angle.
I know all of you will say "blah blah blah grip angle, why does that matter?" My reasoning is, when you take a thumb-forward hold with your support hand, it just doesn't work as well with a Glock. This may help illustrate my point:
As you can see, the thumb of the support hand rides along the upper edge of the frame right below the slide. When you deal with the Glock's grip angle, this is more exaggerated. Now you have to rotate that wrist downward even more to keep your thumb straight along the frame. This is uncomfortable to me and makes me shoot like shite. Add that to the fact that I hate the way a Glock's grip feels and it's a terrible combination for me. I also hate U-Dot sights because no other company uses them.
Nearly every other pistol on the market (except maybe a Ruger Mark 3, or a Luger P08) has a 1911 grip angle. The fact that my grip changes so much with a Glock absolutely kills it for me.
Most of the Glock hate is directed towards Glock fanboys who say "Glock or GTFO" and have no respect for other platforms. There are tons of respectable Glock owners that take heat for this bad apples (pun? ).
So it's not a 1911 vs Glock thing. It's just whether or not they fit you. If they do, good. If they don't, why be forced to buy one? I don't think I ever will.

Yep, perfection.
That's why that whole article is about how to modify the ever loving crap out of a Glock.

WHAT???
So, not trying to pry....but you shoot a GI model 1911?
I love other pistols, I just trust a Glock to not jam.
I think the 1911 is the lightsaber of pistols. Elegant, Classic...but a lightsaber never blew up the Death Star.

Exactly. The Safety will lock into place with too high of a grip. The beavertail will bite the webbing of your hand if it isn't increased and beveled. The internal extractor spring will fail to eject brass. The magazine angle has to be exact or it will not feed. The ejection port has to be flared in order to eject reliably. You have to be concerned with what brand of magazine you use, what type of bullet you shoot, how that bullet is shaped, and how much that bullet weighs.
Oh, wait that is the 1911. You don't have to worry about any of that on a Glock. Carry On...
While I was reading this I was thinking "this guys got his shite backwards"

And for all my Glock cheerleding, I've never bashed any other gun except Hi-Pernts.

You've bashed your fair share of ravens too.

And maybe a Lorcin.
But those don't count.

Kinda like strippers aren't really people. They aren't really guns.
