My dad knocked down this 7 point (named it "Ole Red") a few mornings ago. Our camp is 8 points or better but he had a feeling this thing wasn't getting any bigger. The antlers were pretty damn heavy and the body was the longest I've ever seen. When on the skinning rack, from toe tip to nose tip, it was at least 8 feet long. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

And for those interested in internal damage and such, the rifle used was a Winchester model 70 in .270 Winchester. The bullet was a 130gr Hornady SST handload and did not exit this deer. My dad was shooting through heavy brush and thinks the bullet may have deflected and gone in sideways. This also explains why he gut shot it. He's a damn good shot and has taken plenty of deer. Here is the trauma on the entrance:

Congrats to pops on a nice buck. Where was this killed?

Biggest I've seen in person was killed near my camp in SW MS about 20 yrs ago. Very similar to this one. It was 10 pt 245 lbs and I just remember how long it was.

Now THAT's a big boy... This one had an 18 1/2" spread. I forget the other exact dimensions, but for a 7 point, this thing had some heavy horns.

It was shot in St. Francisville.

EDIT: Just to let you guys know how lucky my dad is, he was the one who shot the 155" buck in Arkansas that I posted here a little over a month ago. He's had a dream season.

If that deer is here in the south, that is nice. Been many a years from the last time I took a deer over 225lbs. Small land owners and a new highway screwed up my place.

I have yet to kill one over 200. Have heard of several this year in the 220 range which is more than I usually hear about.

The new road run through your place? Kinda curious where. I've heard several people say they've seen a bear in a field over that way.

Yes, there are a couple now. Last year, the moma had two cubs. I haven't seen them yet this year.

A couple years ago, I killed three that weighed 250, 275, and 280 on 3 Friday's in a row. Craziest thing ever.

Oh, and that's a 6 point

Yea this one wasn't fully rutting. I imagine its neck would've been a lot bigger. But it was starting to rut for sure because it did smell a bit.
