Having trouble with the line on my new trimmer.

It's my first gas powered trimmer. A curved Snapper. The line is giving me fits. It keeps recessing into the spool or not feeding out when I bump it. I open the spool and the line is jammed between other lines or a line and the spool wall. I try respooling it a little tighter with no luck. I try respooling it a little looser with no luck.
I'm using cheap round line. Could that be the issue?

Very well could be or just be the head that comes on the trimmer. Not familiar with the snapper trimmers. See if you can purchase a small speedfeed head for it, thats all I use and never give me any trouble.

I have one similar to this that uses fixed line instead of the self feeding bullshite that never works.
Just slide a piece of precut line in and go until you need another one. Usually go through 2 sets in a cut but I don't fight the worthless self feeding shite.

Those suck arse.
OP, spool the line the way it says to, clip the line in the little cutouts, put the head back on, and pull the strings. You don't have to spool it super tight or anything. Watch a YouTube video if you can't figure it out.
Also, use the thickest string your shite can handle

Curved trimmers kill my back

Letting the line get too short causes it to slip back in also.

I switched to the square looking line w ridges, and woundvitvtge opposite way the trimmer says on my stihl. One string issue this spring summer. If only I could get the carb set on my blower now

How does the string come out if you have it wound incorrectly?

Is it a "speed spool" or auto type feeder?
If so, you are lining up the holes and threading the line through the eyelets and twisting it in right? Not trying to take the cover off, then spool it, then put the cover on.

I give my string a good coating of wd40 before I put the cover on. Seems to help feed out more smoothly.

Stop letting your line get too short. Set your weed eater down and pull out the line when it starts getting short.

Doesn't sound like it's cheap line, you may be winding it on the spool in the wrong direction ? would help if you could share pics.
If possible i would return it and purchase a straight shaft Echo,Stihl or one of the better brands, you will find they are much easier to operate and easier on your back and shoulders.

Hell I dont know. But when it says to put the end of the trimmer line in it has an arrow to wrap it back over itself. When I shove it in the little keeper hole and lay it down and go the direction opposite the arrow I have basically zero line issues. Just fill up the trimmer about every three or four cuts.

Replace the bump feed with a fixed line head. I did this on my big Echo trimmer many years back and have never looked back.
A fixed line head also allows you to use many different size lines. Mine will use everything from .80 to .125 or larger.

Does great weedeating, and you can knock down monkey grass, small brush, and other stuff with it. I haven't dealt with lines in years.

says with engines of 25cc's or more. Doubt OP has a curved shaft trimmer with that big of a motor.

I didn't notice that in the pic. Good catch. I have a 28cc Husky, so it works great. They also make light and medium duty versions if you're just doing normal trimming, but I need the big head for trimming thicker stuff back twice a year.

I have the fixed line crap from craftsman. Yeah, you dont have spooling issues, but you also have to stop what youre doing every 10 minutes to add more strang.
Would never buy another if i had to. Im looking to go to the spool.
