Has anyone asked you to borrow a gun?

Just like the title says. I had two last night ask to borrow a piece, and one already this morning. No problem giving them up temporarily until this shite cools down because they are very close immediate family and best friend's for their wives.
Eta: Try to keep politics out of this. I'm sure the admins have their hands full dealing with other boards, and everything has been good on the OB so far

for hunting or something like that, yeah. I am not giving my gun(s) to someone because they feel threatened or scared.

Nah refer to LA sportsman as there are ample opportunities to buy one there.

I've got a few redundant ones I can lend out for a little while, and if that makes them feel more safe, I have no problem doing it

Someone that does not have a gun and wants it for this reason, has trouble written all over it, especially if they have no gun experience...

A buddy of mine borrowed a rifle last year so his son could youth hunt with it.
Not an expensive rifle, but I hope he decides to buy his own for next time.
That's all I have to say about thaaaat.

Going to buy a revolver today. Been talking about it forever and keep putting it off. It's time.

The two people I'm actually giving them to have owned guns in the past, and have shot a lot. Hopefully judgement takes over if SHTF, but it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. They both carry medium-sized cans of mace as a first option

Get a full sized Ruger or Smith & Wesson - any other brand is junk FWIW.

Until the borrower shoots and kills someone and you get sued for negligence. Pass.

After Katrina, loaned my Beretta 92FS & 7 loaded 15 round mags to my Rebel friend from the coast.
He lost all his firearms to the storm.

My thoughts exactly. Or they don't properly store it and their kid shoots them self or a friend while playing with it.

The older Colt double actions are great revolvers in the $1,000+ used price range.
I assume he's buying new. Last I checked, Colt no longer makes double action revolvers. They only make the "Single Action Army" and the "New Frontier" revolvers these days.

Correct.
Smith and Wesson or Ruger are your choices now for good affordable double action revolvers.

I have let friends borrow to come hunting with me.
During Katrina I lent out all my guns. Picked them back up a few weeks later.
The best was when my inlwas who never liked guns and never wanted them in their house asked me for one right after Katrina. I was very happy to lend one out to them. Just a crack barrel 12ga, had to keep it simple

You can find them used for $2,000 - $10,000 on Gunbroker
Great guns, but not $10,000 great.

I've loaned out guns countless times for hunting to people I knew well.
If one of my fat friends came asking for a piece because shite was getting heated, noooo way
