Can you do this? Like go fishing one day, go beach the boat and then camp and leave the next day?

I've spent some nights on Last Island, and fished Timbalier.
Never had any problems, outside of mosquitoes and raccoons. I understand they can enforce laws that do not allow you to remain on the islands, but I've never seen them enforced.
It's truthfully not worth it. You better pick the right time of year with the right tides, and be prepared to swelter, while you donate blood, and beat off the "devil dogs", as my best friend called them.
There are houseboats inside Last Isle that make for a convenient, but pricey, good time. Not for public use. Somebody, somewhere, is in pretty good with management, it seems.

Friends dad used to have a camp on east Timbilair, spent many a nights out there, even after the hurricanes, wake where you put your boat, a lot of shite can go wrong out there between the rocks and tide

Spent the night on Ship Island many years ago.
MOSQUITOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The sound of the mosquitoes circling my body (zipped up in a sleeping bag) kept me awake all night. I was very happy to see the sun come up that next morning.

Did you guys not use a tent? Isn't there stuff you can burn in a fire that will keep the mossies {shoutout to Bear Grylls} away?

You have to experience it for yourself, I see.
Of course we had a tent. We just didn't enjoy being in it the WHOLE time. The sound of those bastards in those numbers is deafening. It'll make you piss in a bottle in the tent.
Could choke a cow. The coons are actually quite friendly. They'll make themselves at home with your ice chest. The latches are no problem. The Coors Light dog ain't got nuttin' on 'em.
I guess the point is that if you're going to spend the night in the tent, what's the point? Leave late and get up early from the camp.
To the guy going this summer, wait 'til Fall.

We use to spend a 3 day weekend on Breton Island back when I younger. We had a tent on land we used for cooking but we would sleep in the boat anchored off the beach with a mosquito net. Mosquitos were not near as bad on the water than on land.

I've never fished East Timbalier, if that is what you're referring to, but I've spent many nights out at Isle Denieres, and the most comfortable ones were in the boat.
For those going to Whiskey Island, there's an old rodeo weigh in dock inside Trinity Bayou next to the statue. It's in disrepair now, but that is where we set up the tent ususally.
Tried by Whiskey Pass one time, but the tide affected the only good areas to set a tent. The island has changed so much in the past few years, that I'm really not sure where I would set up to spend the night if a sudden moment of insanity came upon me.
I was on the island 4 weeks ago, and mosquitoes during the day were not a problem. They were having a tad bit of difficulty maneuvering in the 25 mph winds. But in the dead calm of the night in these hot, humid conditions, I have no doubt you will not have much comfort. And spray, lotion, fire, etc. will not make a difference. Even if they are not biting, breathing and the noise will eventually bring you to your senses.
