I'm headed to Hackberry to try and put little head on some trout. I haven't been all summer and would appreciate some intel.

From what I'm hearing it's starting to pick back up. I talked to a buddy today that fished and they limited out.

I'd start by fishing the south side of West Cove and watch for birds working, of course. I'd fish the steam engine and see what happens and then hit the weirs.

I haven't been to Big Lake since the Spring but we are on them over here in the surf and at the jetties. I would guess that they are doing the same over there and also at the short rigs.

Went last weekend and fell 3 fish short of a 4 man limit. Caught about 150 fish all day. Some trash, some too small. If we hadn't run out of shrimp, we'd have had our limit. South end of big lake somewhere around the old jetties. That's as detailed as I can get without giving up the guide's honey hole.

As mentioned above, south bank of West Cove, along with the cut going into Joe's Cove off the ship channel (and Joe's Cove itself). Also hearing reports of birds working on the west side of the lake and the south end. Should be a good weekend just watch out for boats. I think salty cajun is having a tournament this weekend so there will be a lot of boats on the water for sure

Matt's a good guy... I havent been since early july but the reports I have been hearing is them catching along the ship channel on points.

You can usually pick up a few reds fishing the rocks along the ship channel.
