Gun Safe Advice

I don't have a ton of guns, nor do I have any heirloom/sentimental value weapons. I have a security system and cameras in my home. Just looking to keep my hunting firearms out of the hands of smash-and-grab meth heads in the area. I've read the previous threads and know I'm not getting a TRUE safe for ~$1000, so what would ye recommend? Would this Cannon be worthwhile?

At 500 pounds, that is a little on the light side, a lot of factors to look at for a safe but the first thing I look at is weight and get something in the 800 pound or better class

That will keep the local hoodrats out. Bolt it to your slab and position it in a corner wall.

The dimensions are close to my Fatboy jr. Mine is listed as a 48 gun safe and that is listed at 64. 30 is probably closer to right. Scopes eat up room. The Cannon is also about 250 lbs lighter.
I would say, at $699, go for it.

Does $1000 get anything even close to 800 pounds?
I'm in the market too and I'm not seeing any appreciable difference in $600 safes vs $1000 safes. Looks like you need to get in the $3500+ range to start getting appreciably better stuff.

If you just have a few guns that don't hold any real value, I would think about a wall safe.

Got any room for a false wall?

Just bought a Liberty Fatboy Jr. last week. It claims 48 gun capacity. Black Friday deal had the normally $1750 safe at $1300 before taxes and delivery.

Google photo. I don't have one, just seem them on the Internet.
There are a couple people who make them. You can buy a stack on for under $200 or something a little nicer from tactical wall for about $500.

I bought a Mesa 7236E a couple 3 years back simply hoping the fire rating was as it said. It's behind a security roll up door, in a cinderblock alarmed building with cameras and I'll hear the alarm.
Bought from Sam's or Costco, not sure which, but I know I didn't pay 1800$ like they are going for now, thought it was under a grand.
860lbs if interested. You won't fit near the guns it claims either.

Those look cool and I guess would be okay if you a re trying to hide something but not so much if you were trying to secure something???

They do lock. I don't know what type of security you're really getting, but enough to keep kids out I'm sure. The point of them is to really not have to lock your guns up, to have them ready at a moments notice while being hidden in plane sight.

In all honesty it is just about as good as they get without spending LOTS more. A pro will take about 10 more seconds to get into a fat boy than that cannon.
The trick to it is securing it as well as possible to the floor in a space where it can not be leaned forward. The tighter the space the better.
A pro will simply use the weight of the safe to bust the door open with bars and leverage, a hoodrat will see the safe and turn around.
Unless you are storing the British Crown Jewels you are not going to attract anyone with the skillset to defeat the lock itself.
