Maybe he meant they were baiting the shrimp? You do that by mixing pogie meal with flour and adding a little water. You then roll it up into little balls and throw it in the water around where you're castnetting. It seems to work well this time of year to attract white shrimp.

Seeing pics like that is when I get a little jealous of you south Louisiana boys! Between the shrimp, crawfish, crabs, and the marsh fishing you guys have it all!!!!!
There are a few places in south Arkansas I might me able to catch a few mudbugs but man those shrimp look GOOD!!!!!
