Whats a good choice that I can plant along the bottom of a chain link fence that will grow up the fence providing coverage. There are alot of mature trees along the fence so digging post holes and doing a privacy fence are out of the questions.
i have this in one corner of my yard. can i get an ID? my guess is ficus

That's Confederate Jasmine. You can dig some of that up and use it. When I saw the thread title I was going to come in here and suggest it. It grows like wild fire.

Yep confederate jasmine grows like crazy and makes a solid wall. I have two planted on a trellis and could have used only one. Have to trim it back fairly often.

Yeah, it should be fine. We have some in sun and some in shade. I believe that the amount of sunlight sill just affect leaf color. More sun, darker leaves...but I'm not certain, that's just what I've seen with ours. That stuff takes over though, it will get in to your attic if you let it grow up the side of the house. Keep it trimmed back. It's very tolerant to insect which is why it almost always looks healthy. If you cut some leaves or vines you'll see that it starts to ooze a sticky white sap, which prevents most insects from eating it.

You can also try fig vine, or English ivy.
