does anyone know where I can get a chip for my gps for satellite imagery for the grand isle area.
I'm new to this so I have a few questions..
Does the make/model of my current gps matter?
where can I buy one at?
TIA

Navionics or standard mapping
ETA: Can purchase both online. Can find at Cabelas/Bowie as well.

I have a map made of that area. if you have a lowrance unit I can get it for you. I am working on an all in one southeast la coast card.
if not a lowrance elite hdi or newer model or hds series lowrance then imagery will not work. I know Garmin and humminbird also have imagery available.
as tbooux said navionics, standard, and legend all make cards as well.

Right now I have a hummingbird (forgot the number)
But I'm open to upgrading it if that's what I need to do
Just wanted to see my options for the satellite image

Welcome, depends on your unit but I know navionics may have a card. go to the website and see what card your unit will use. if you want to upgrade look into hds touch gen 2 models. they are on sale or the lowrance elite models.

The geaux card is all of south LA and it is great for the HDS 7 gen 2

Anybody know someplace around BR were I can buy a Legend card off the shelf? I need coverage of the marsh between bayou lafourche and the houma nav canal. If doesn't even have to go that far west, hwy 56 is plenty far.

for humminbird I think your only option is navionics top card which i think is the platinum, but you need to verify that it works with your model. and I think is 299, but it works for both lowrance and humminbird.
Mapping is the reason i moved to lowrance. More options for satellite imagery. Neither standard mapping or legend works for humminbird and humminbird has no interest in them at this time. Its a shame because humminbird side scan works much better in shallow water than lowrance.
