This is one of 3 Rem 700s I bought from Walmart as they were ending gun sales

I sent it off to be blue printed and the bolt timed to a company in ND that does it: LRI

This is the barrel that came off the gun. Brand new, never been shot:

I hit the powerball I am buying the rights to the 700 870 and 1100. You can print money if you produce those with quality.

It's going to be a shame to see how these new equity companies squeeze whatever juice was left out of Remington before finally putting them out of their misery.

You can't see it on the picture but there is surface rust all over the outside of the barrel.

Quite the testament to management of Remington, that in the biggest gun buying frenzy in history, they managed to kill the company.

Chad is the real deal as LRI does amazing work. His newest 5-bore axis machine can true an action in a matter of minutes. Normally it takes a GS hours on a lathe to do it manually. Technology has definitely changed the game

Action Blueprinting video

your components will look like this prior to assembly

instead of this trash direct from the factory. You'll never see the chatter marks and horrible machine work unless the barrel is removed from the action

I hope the new owners bring the quality back. I want an 870 yute. Maybe 2 or 3.

at least yours didn't look this bad
factory SPS that had <150 rds fired before the action was blueprinted.

the above pictured action was used to complete this custom build in 6.5x47 Lapua

The timing job on the bolt is spectacular.

LRI is the best in the business right now.
And I talked to them last week. Something is up with Chad. I didn't ask questions but they said he has been in bad health.

I used them last year to blueprint my rem 700 LA mag. Turned it in to a 7 saum. Gun is bad to the bone. Wish reloading components weren’t hard to come by.

Why did you rechamber a long action to a short action cartridge?

That is not a bad plan. I wonder what the patents and stuff are for the originals (availability wise). I picked up a Weatherby pump at a shop to look at it and I thought it was an 870 at first. OG 870's, 1100s, and 11-87s are worth their weight in gold for a shotgun hunter.

Probably to use the heavy 7mm bullets and really let the 7 saum shine.

So out of curiosity, you are having classic model rifles blueprinted to be rebuilt, but better?

Basically, it's squaring up the action, lugs, bolt face, and threading to the barrel.

The 700 action is one of the best out there but they can easily be improved by getting everything square and trued.

After that's done install a new barrel, trigger and you will have a gun that is better than 95% of the guns out there.
This one will be getting a triggertech trigger that will set to around 2-2.5lbs.
It will be one of my hunting rifles chambered in 6.5cm (I had an extra Criterion barrel that wasn't being used)

I see. This is why I love the OB board, always learning new things. I would love if someone started remaking the 1100, 11-87 or 870 back like they used to be. Doesn't Marlin own Remington now? Be interested to see if they bleed them dry or try to improve on the classics. I would think the market for the classics would be huge.

Remington and Marlin were owned by the same company

Ruger bought Marlin.

I don't think they bought Remington. There were issues with Remington (lawsuits) that caused many companies to stay away from that headache.

Oh you're right. I misunderstood that scenario. That damn Bushmaster lawsuit. Guess, I'll stick to trying to find old ones and brush up on being able to date Remingtons from memory or from a phone screenshot. I missed out on a good condition 11-87 12 in Camo by procrastinating. But I am highly tempted to use that and just get a 10/22 as that is one everyone should have. Prices were a little high at the local shop compared to online, and they'll probably go fast. But idek if you can find .22 ammo right now, I haven't been checking.
