Good way to secure red dot to base?

So hit the range to sight in new optic, realized after 50 or so rounds that my optic was putting rounds all over. I noticed that the top part of the optic was a bit loose in the mount.
The two screws (one with the allen wrench in it) were not tight. So I had to tighten them down, and will have to go back to the range since the sight moved a bit.
Anyway, what's the best way to keep them from becoming loose again? I'm guessing Loctite? I don't have any plans to take this dot off the mount and place it on another non-picatinny base so a permanent fix is ideal

Little bit of clear nail polish on the threads should hold it. Or Loctite.

BLUE loctite. It's a thread locker. You won't ruin it but you can remove the sight with effort if needed. Don't use anything other than BLUE.

That stuff is a sunofabitch to remove though. Careful what you wish for.

As opposed to regular loctite like he was asking about. I use it all the time and just put a small amount of the blue. It works great holding it in place and I can force it to break free with a bit of muscle.

Sounds like that's what I'm looking for. I doubt I will ever take it off of that base
Thanks

I would imagine 35-40 inch lbs of torque would hold if you don't want to use a thread locker.

This^^. I've set up a lot of handguns w/ scopes (from 223 Rem to 44 Mag to 375 JDJ) using Burris Signature rings on a Weaver 1 piece base. I've never had the screw holding the ring to the mount become loose. If properly applied, you shouldn't have any problems w/ a light recoiling 223 . If you want added insurance, I'd suggest blue Loctite, NOT red Loctite. If you use blue Loctite, it's pretty easy to loosen it by applying heat (e.g. hair dryer).
One other suggestion, be SURE you have a good fitting screw driver. If you don't have a set of gunsmith screw drivers, this is a good time to get one.
