My 1st rifle (7 years old) was Remington youth model .243

Great gun. Laid some deer down

Same here Mylsuhat I took it out the closet and popped a couple of rounds with it the other day. Really a fun gun to shoot as an adult.

ETA: I was 11 when I got that gun.

My little cousin has it now. She popped a bobcat last year with it. My dad always said he loved shooting it when I was using it

He shot it a few times when I couldn't get a shot on the deer. If it was really close I couldnt see it cause I was so short

I just put a leupold vari xll on mine and I almost like taking it more than my .270 now. The recoil is tremendously less, though it doesn't really matter when your adrenaline is pumping. But it's a smooth shootin gun

Yeah I don't think I'd feel the difference between a .22 and a .50 when shooting a big deer

When I shot my spike this weekend as I was watching him run I was like "did my rifle even kick or make noise?"

Really is amazing how adrenaline kicks in during the kill shot. I don't feel or hear the rifle going off. Try shooting off a bench with no hearing protection and you feel like your ears are going to bleed.

I love my Marlin 336 30-30 as much as anyone, but if I'm going to buy one gun I'm going with the .270. More versatile.

From what I remember about the .243 vs .270 is the trajectory being similar with a huge concession as far as energy. Never really heard of the .243 being a very highly regarded long distance deer round. But if it works for you!

Used to have one and absolutely loved it. Great trail gun. One of the better looking rifles made.

I've got on of those and one of these. Marlin 1894 .44 Mag. Absolutely love the ways these guns look and shoot.

I do as well. I have considered the .44 as it is much more useful to me than the 30-30.
