A buddy and I are going to get in the boat and go explore the delta. Neither of us have any experience up there, so we're just gonna go scout. Bringing a couple 12 ga's, a .22 LR, possibly a .270, and my retriever. Hoping to find a hog, or if nothing else, just some cool land.

Anyone have experience up there, or anything we should look out for? Any cool spots? Might try and skull tap a hog with the .22 (unless that's frowned upon?)

Happy Friday

Don't go snooping around at gravine island. You will be shot

Depending on where y'all are putting in, you better check the tide

Yea the beach there is fine. I just wouldn't wander around

Obvisouly being tongue in cheek, but some kids were shot at a few years ago that were snooping around in a guys shed. I think a teenage girl actually died

Well that certainly won't be us. Only thing I'm concerned with is my dog. All the sites say no dogs, but they are talking about hunting with dogs. He won't be hunting so he should be ok?

Not certain on the law there, but I would imagine it's similar to fishing licenses. If you have two rods and two people on a boat then they both need a license. I would imagine since you're bringing guns then you "could" get ticketed for having the dog

Yes, I live in OB AL, I have hunted and fished the upper delta many times. That is a very beautiful area, one of the most diverse estuaries in the country. There is the oldest living Cypress tree in the USA in the upper delta wma land. I will try to find a link to more info.

You should be able to get some crappie in the creeks.

Beautiful day to be out on the boat there, very jealous!

Also be sure to get the wma map & permit, it's free, however, there are other required licenses for hunting in an wma.
