I was thinking North of the ferry? If you have been, please guide me.

Cameron Parish?
If so north of the ferry is the ship channel. It would be your best bet to go crab in Sabine Refuge if you have access to a boat.
If no boat, get on hwy 27 and crab both Hog Island Gully boat launches.

Yes, there's a bunch of crabs there. There is always big full crabs there. Just go early early and beat all the idiots
