Looking for recommendations for a tailgate generator that is reliable and reasonably quiet. I know Honda is considered the best. Was hoping to find something a less expensive. 2000w (give or take) is all we need.

I have the Ryobi 2000w inverter generator and I love it especially for the price. It can be paralleled like the other inverter types for more power if needed. I have two and run my camper off of them. Quiet and auto-throttles according to load. A gallon of gas lasts at least 4 hours. FIL has the Wen inverter type and has no complaints and he is a stickler.

ETA
It's actually a 1800 continuous 2200 surge watts but I still don't regret the purchase

Friend has a Wen that is a direct copy of the Yamaha inverter that is very similar to the honda inverter.

I think you can catch them on woot for like $389.

Theyve used it for one season and so far so good. Really quiet as well. Very efficient on gas as well.

When I say direct copy of yamaha, I mean its like they took a Yamaha and put yellow plastic on it.

Check out Predator. Don't have personal experience but the specs look pretty good.

I bought the Generac iq2000 of course I would have rathered the Honda but I have a hookup at a Generac dealer. After watching a comparison video on YouTube I was willing to give it a whirl. I use it to run the A/C on my boat and would guess it has 40-50 hours and no problems. Be sure you get the IQ series not the older XI series
