Me and the wife are looking for places to go fish from the shore. Live close to BR and dont mind driving a couple of hours. Not hard core fishermen just looking to have fun and relax. Any ideas?

Hwy 1 btw Golden Meadow and Grand Isle has tons of spots w/great fishing. Lots of great spot onthe Mississippi River. Generally anywhere a bridge crosses a river will have spots to fish underneath.

Grand Isle State Park, as far as fishing goes i can't think of a place you have a better chance of catching fish at.
Also if you are not sure what to do you can always stop by a local bait shop or ask a park worker ahead of time. I would suggest doing just a little homework before heading out if you want to catch some fish. Generally people don't give out fishing secrets but if you are going to fish from land they tend to open up a lot more.

I see people every day freshwater fishing the canal along hwy 51 beside I-55 between Ponchatoula and LaPlace. Mostly south of Manchac. They just sit in chairs beside the road which is not much traveled. The canal is about 20 miles long.
