Looking at a 2016 tahoe, msrp 54k, listed at 48k. How much should I be looking for them to budge on a new 16 still on the lot?

Another $4k, easily. If not $5-6k.

Go to three different dealers and tell them you'll give them $300 over cost. Then take the best deal considering you're trade in assuming you have a trade.
