It is aggravating in the spring when we are catching sacs off the bank and some a-hole in a boat pulls up right in front of us to poach.

I think "poach" may not be the exact word you're looking for here. We always referred to it as something else. But it was never a question of it being legal or not.

This right here. If it's my lake only people with my permission can fish there.

My buddy and I were fishing a shoreline a few years back and between two docks got on some big white perch. Caught four or five when the land owner and wife walked down from their camp and gave us the stank eye. We didn't stop until the fish stopped biting.

Don't live on a lake but that wouldn't bother me. I would most likely walk down with a beer and see if you caught something. Unless the fisherman was an arse.

Bad world when neighbors can't get along.

You know where I grew up. I don't think bank walkers would have any way to walk up down there. Boat was the only option.

I can't say much about town homes built around a small lake other than that it sounds terrible.

We are on 40' wide lots, it is great with a good neighbors and you understand that you will piss people off from time to time and vis versa. Just gotta roll with it. We find our self eating and drinking with many in the neighborhood. My kids have an open invitation to walk in a number of the neighborhood homes to swipe cookies. IT can be very good or very bad depending on your and your neighbor's actions...

We had to put signs up when some random neighborhood kid slipped off the bulkhead and momma threatened us.

That's why we cant have nice things anymore

Are you a douchebag and tell the neighbors they can't walk along the lake and fish? Or are you cool (as long as everyone is clean, quiet, & respectful) and don't give a shite?

My thoughts: Stay on your property and I will stay on mine. You want more bank to fish, buy more property.

I had to deal with this crap every week many years ago. The upscale neighborhood had a 5 acre little lake, owned by the neighborhood, (It was really a retention pond called a lake) About 40 houses or so on the lake. It had a damn dam. The Assn owned the damn dam property and paid taxes on it. It had a good bit of fish in it. Kids for other areas and probably the Assn too would trash the dam area or launch boats there which drove the super anal bird lovers there bat crazy so they starting telling everyone they owned the dam and put up posted signs, saying no trespassing etc. Then they started telling the other residents they couldn't fish on the lake, and a lot of people were pissy about people not on the lake fishing in the lake, even though the dues were paid by everyone (200 plus homes) and about 25% of the money was spent on the fricking lake.

I had to tell them they didnt own the GD damn, and they couldnt restrict access to it from other members or the lake, and that if the shite disint stop I would request the HOA could just vote to drain the lake or give the property to the city to which would make it public and everyone would have access. This shite went on for years, and I was actually almost glad when Katina killed all the fish.

Yankees and retired military were always the worst mfers to deal with. Basically people want their property and privacy and to be free from other people whether they have the right or not.

They also didn't ever have kids and didn't like them. They liked birds and squirrels. (80% of neighborhood had kids) If that is you move into a fricking retirement community or the woods.

Have someone threaten to sue you for their own dumbass mistake on your lake and you'll change your mind.

Our lake house is on a private road with a private landing. We all know each other and I tell the kids to fish anywhere they want. No one minds and everyone is happy when a fish is caught. After all, its all about the fishin in our neck of the woods.

You probably say douche. Don't be in my yard if I'm not in it. I don't want to wake up or drive up to find someone milling around my yard. I enjoy the peace and quite and am easily annoyed with unannounced visitors. If I'm outside and a kid politely asks I'll give him permission and if he behaves I'll usually invite him to come as often as they please just so long as we're at home.

So I take it you're not inviting the neighborhood kids over to swim in your pool during the summer. Probably wont even allow your own children to have a birthday party cause you're scared someone will stub their toe & sue.
