Any one been fishing out of Venice lately? Either headed there or Cocodrie this weekend? I know the rivers low, heard good reports a week or two ago.

Hadn't been there myself, but I heard from a few buddies that were down there and they said Cocodrie was on fire.

Also heard that Venice (inshore) was on fire, but I don't have as much confidence in those reports.

Good to hear about Cocodrie. Probably end up there just cause we have a nice camp to stay at. We just never seem to tear them up in Cocodrie.

Sounds like a helluva problem to have. Worse case scenario, y'all will drink, fish, and have a great time.

Good luck, hope y'all tear 'em up.

Venice has been can't miss. However the river is rising as I type this. Headed down tomorrow afternoon may still be able to catch trout in the river for a bit but it's going to be over real quick if it's not done now.

Will still be trout in yellow cotton though, but Fri and Sat will be out there due to muddy water from the wind.

This front coming through has me worried. Gonna be hiding from the wind and trying to find clear water.

IF the river hasn't gotten too muddy wind won't affect them will still be fine. HOWEVER it normally doesn't take much of a rise in the river to shut the river bite down on trout. It's somewhat of a gamble but if the river is still green it's likely the best place in the wind.

Muddy water on top green salty water under. Fish are everywhere in the river. 75 no need to measure trout in three hours two weekends ago, and 50 in hour and a half this past weekend. All in Buras area.. Venice is better.. Glow with char tail 1/2 oz. jig heads in river 1/4 in cuts.. Carolina rigger minners work well if plastics are to slow. Your welcome

rsbd I don't know if you have fished the river when it rises. What you witnessed two weeks ago will be over VERY quickly with the river rise. Yes the river has been on fire for the last month but as soon as it rises it's over for trout. We may be able to catch trout through the weekend but it will be over very quickly. A rising river just kills the bite in the river.

Hey man I hope you are right and I am wrong. I too have fished the river for over 30 years. Rising river kills it. It's forecasted to be over 8' by middle of next week find me trout in that, I'll be impressed, it won't happen.

Like I say I hope you are right. I have never caught trout in a RISING 8' river. Caught them before on a falling 8' river but never a rising one.

You live down there? I'm on Leroy Harvey Ln. in Venice.

Any luck with the ducks?

I went down there last weekend and didn't see a whole lot of action. Wasn't much flying in Main pass and Pass a loutre didn't look all that great either when I scouted. The water rising may help with the ducks a little. I had trouble finding water and a spot to hunt in the morning.

I did catch a bunch of trout the last two times I was down there though. I think you are right. After that river gets over 4ft it will be a lot tougher to find the trout.

Jason, ducks have been spotty to say the least. Only savior is the cans have been so damn thick all year.

We are off about 40% from our normal average for this time of year. On average hunting 3 people and on average about 12/hunt. Some REALLY bad hunts in there though. Hoping a few new birds will be down for a little while after tomorrow.

Main pass/Baptiste has been bad all year for some reason, have been hunting further south.
