Leaving for family trip on Friday and want to try ad do some surf fishing. We are staying in Blue Mt Beach and not sure what to fish for or what to use. Im only used to fishing out of coco and fourchon. Do they have pompano this time of year? I also know they have few brackish lakes inland as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

They do still have pompano. Last I heard the June grass had moved in, making it hard to fish from the surf. But to surf fish, you ideally want a surf rod. You can buy a combo for $40 at gulf breeze bait and tackle. Also pick up a couple gulf rigs (double drop circle hooks with floats above the hooks) and a couple spider weights to grab into the sand. Bait with shrimp or sand fleas for pompano. Cut mullet or cis will get you reds or whitlings.

There is a big fishing pier in pola. You can catch all kinds of stuff there. You can also catch bull reds on the fishing bridge next to the 3 mile bridge.

^what he said. Spanish have been thick, you can catch them walking the beach. Kings being caught in good numbers from the pier.
