They reffered me to a small boat for 1300. The days of costa rico being cheap are long over I am afriad. I assume all the divers have gone somewhere else as they dont spend shite on anything but diving and booze

Also, Jaco (the town just south of Suenos) is a little bit seedy. Wouldnt recommend taking the kids down there after....like 5 PM.

The fact that the guys who have responded to your post don't even know how to spell Beatle Bar or Hotel Cocal correctly leads me to believe that they have never been to either.
Luckily for you, I have been to Costa Rica many times and to Jaco more than a few.
Los Suenos is nice, but if you want to fish on a budget, make the short trip down to Playa Herradura the day before you want to fish and talk with some of the local guides. Let them know exactly what you want, whether it be a full day or half day. They will bargain with you. Speaking Spanish will help, but it is not necessary.
If you only want half a day, I suggest going out for some sails and put some mahi in the box while you are out. If you want a whole day, chase some Roosters in the morning and then head out trolling.

I will see if I can find some contact info for some of the more reasonable guys I've fished with.
