First time duck hunting

Going duck hunting for the first time on Saturday. Going with a guide and 2 other novice duck hunters near the Venice area. Any tips that could help me seem less clueless? I'm not a regular hunter of any sorts, I'm borrowing an automatic shotgun from a friend and practiced shooting skeet with it last week. Thanks

Watch as many duck dynasty episodes as possible and you should be fine

Tell me exactly where you and the other two novices are going to be..

keep your head down and be still as possible. The guide will call the shot. Good luck!

Shoot in your lane and not over someones head
Be still when the ducks are coming in and don't pie face
Don't shoot the decoys
It's fairly easy especially if you're going with a guide. Just be mindful of others and aware of what's going on around you and it will be a fun trip for you.

Very good point.
Shoot straight out in front of you.
Its easy to get careless and swing over someones head because the double banded mallard that your buddy missed at 10 yards is getting away. Just let it go.

All first time hunters should watch this

let the guide know your experience...then listen to him...if he's a good guide he will work to set you up and let you know what you need to do...

The hardest thing for a beginner (besides actually hitting the duck) is knowing when is a good time to shoot. Luckily a guide will probably tell you when he thinks they are in a good position/range to shoot so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

wear full camo or at least nothing brightly colored...
find out in advance what kind of boots you need.
tell the guide that you have never hunted before and he will know how to handle it.
keep your gun barrel down in the blind unless you are shooting...
don't look at the ducks when they are working. instead, keep your face down and watch the guide...he will tell you when to shoot and his eyes will show you which direction the ducks are coming from...
bring mosquito repellant and a small flashlight...
bring only steel shot into the blind and be sure you have license, state stamp, and federal stamp, all signed.
bring a dry change of clothes for the trip home...
discuss with your buds beforehand that when a flock comes in, you shoot the duck on your side of the flock, regardless of which one is closest...it is surprising how frequently everyone in the blind will pick out the same duck to shoot at if you don't discuss it first.
be prepared to tip the guide...
finally, be aware that you are going to probably be instantly addicted to a fairly expensive hobby for the rest of your life....

The lead on some of those shots is crazy

Also remember to put the safety back on after shooting is done or an opportunity has passed. This can easily be overlooked when you get excited.
