I would go with stainless 30-06. You can always get a quick cerakote job if you don't like the look, but stainless on the inside is what matters.

.308 is theoretically more accurate than a .30-06.

Well, as long as it's in a short action.

I have two stainless Tikka's and they are tack drivers. One is a .308 and the other is a 300. By far the most comfortable 300 I have ever shot.

Yeah, that new stainless one is a tikka 6.5 creedmoor.

It's not a tack driver yet, but I think it will be.

Really? I love my tikka but that is a super light rifle. I'd think 300 would be miserable.

I have the tikka in .338 win mag and it aint too bad (of course I have a break and a limb saver on it ), putting 1.5" groups at 200 yards and I aint a great shot

I have a custom 270 made on a Remington 700 action that's 416r stainless. I had them cerakote all the metal parts.. they gun smith that built my rifle shoots 800 yard matches and all of his bench guns are stainless. I highly recommend the cerakote. I hunt on the ground and my gun gets wet muddy etc. A quick wipe down and it's good to go .
