Looking for ideas or tips. Expanded a doorway but having trouble figuring out what to do with the step.
Sunken room is stained concrete.

I'm thinking it will have to protrude into the room in the forefront a bit for sure. With that said, I'd make it deep and 1/2 the height of the higher floor if that isn't over 12", I'm no woodmite though.

That is only 5 inches high. Guess i wasn't too clear. Not looking for an additional step but for how to finish the side of the step and the edge of it.

Sorry, it looked higher to me. I'd find a bullnose edge you like, add some support to anchor into and use a trim similar to the floor. Let it hang over a bit I would think, but anchoring it well is the key.

What about a big block of wood?

Cut the wood flooring evenly and cover with a matching transition moulding or lip moulding either a.) even with the edge and stain the concrete to match or b.) cover the vertical concrete with matching wood and have the lip moulding cover that.

I would install some kind of edge molding on the wood and stain the vertical concrete to match the floor...

This.....edge molding and stain the vertical concrete.
I did laminate downstairs and decided to do the stair landing with it as a transition.
The vertical was a pain in the arse.

That would be the easiest, if you can match the stain. Good idea, hadn't noticed the lower floor.

Glue a riser to the concrete and cap with a transition piece
