I am looking at a parcel in Junction, TX area completely surrounded by a 6' welded wire fence with an 8" barbed riser - all is very good, solid shape.

The prior owner has a blind and 2 feeders that are part of the deal, but I have not seen any game photos.

Will mature whitetail and axis be able to comfortably move through the property?

Former Wildlife and Fisheries chairman would recommend the fence be twice as high

Are you asking if a deer can jump an 6'8" fence?

Technically, yes.

But I see your concern as it would take one really wanting to get in to jump.

You could cut a few low spots and put stands within rifle range.

I've seen a buck jump an 8 footer. Pretty amazing actually. He was black from the waist down though

A whitetail can jump a 6'8" fence flatfooted. Is your intent to keep the deer in or allow them to pass through the property freely? Also, depending on the parcel size and habitat, you may have more deer wanting to jump out then is willing to jump in.

Thanks, that helps - we want them to be able to move onto and off of the property with relative ease.

A 6'-8" fence will stop absolutely nothing from going on or off your property. LINK

Thats probably a 7 or 8 foot fence.

I am not totally sure. The neighbors have cattle and I would probably not be at liberty to remove/lower.
