Favorite outdoor moment/experience

What is your favorite outdoor experience? That high that you get from doing something that you love. The moment you try and replicate the most?
I couldn't help but think about this after last weekend. We got on the speckled trout hard, cast after cast. After flipping 3 straight fish in the boat that were 18" plus, i couldn't help but think "this is why i fish!"
What is your favorite moment that you chase? Slingin' an arrow at a deer? Releasing steel after turning circling ducks with a duck call? setting the hook on a monster bass? watching a red turn on a lure from a tower?

Good question.
I love sticking a bass on plastics. And the excitement of watching any species hit a top water is undeniable.
But I just can’t get enough of watching the sun crawl up the peaks during elk season and thanking the good lord I got to see it.

Teaching my son about everything I can about the outdoors
We just got kayaks and he’s wanting to fish all the time. He just loaded his up and is walking down to the neighborhood lake to fish for a little while.
Took him fly fishing this spring at Dogwood Canyon outside of Branson. We killed it.
I know they were not wild fish but really none in the south are. We caught probably 50 fish with the biggest being ~ 5lbs.
Showing him the ropes of hunting as well. He’s gotten a couple of doe and maybe we will get after a buck this year.
We just got kayaks and he’s wanting to fish all the time. He just loaded his up and is walking down to the neighborhood lake to fish for a little while.

Every time I get to see the sun rise over the marsh, I thank the good Lord for all the blessings he has offered. There aren't many things that make me feel more at peace than watching the sunrise over the marsh and breathing in that salty air.

Shooting a gun with my dad as a kid. Fishing with my parents as a kid. My son killing his first deer at age 8. Does great games at Tiger Stadium count?

Saturday nights at the deer camp by the fire. Watching the sun set at my BIL’s fishing camp. Saturday nights at Tiger Stadium.

Caught a five fish 27 lb (bass) stringer off of one stump in about 15 minutes while fishing a tournament, day one lead with 100 boats.
I'm not sure what they were doing schooling I guess, it was in June at 10 am with the sun beaming down.
I fizzled out day two but still won $900.00

As you can see by my user name, that does it for me. I love seeing that yellow mouth shaking a top water. My heart stops for a second every time.
Best single memory is my son (4 at the time) catching a big bull red last year.
Group of mallards doing it perfect and dropping in.
Hearing my broad head make contact on a big ole judgy doe that's been blowing and being a PITA for a while. That one is just satisfysing.

My son and I were on our first dive after being certified. It was off an old wooden dive boat down in Mexico. It was like diving into an Aquarium. We really weren’t prepared for just how incredible of an experience we were about to share.
Diving a wall with deep canyons and tons of fish. Swam to the opening of a canyon and saw a turtle just above our heads eating on a sponge. He looked at us and then just swam effortlessly above our heads. It was great we both got to share it together.
The interaction with fish/wildlife while diving is probably the best part of diving. You don’t touch them or interfere with them, but most are just oblivious to your presence. You can get really close and it doesn’t bother them. It’s a really unique nature experience.
May be my best day ever.

Headed back to the camp after a day in Timbalier Bay, we notice a couple of fish tailing a point in the marsh. Looked like a decent redfish. It was just before dusk, but we were very close to the camp, so we decided to try.
My dad and I are on the bow as we troll up to the point. We were both kind of standing there waiting for the other to cast when he said "You go." I cast and landed about 6 inches on the other side of it and the water exploded. At first I thougt it got spooked, because there wasnt immediate tension, but I was wrong.
The fish had grabbed the bait and headed to the middle of the canal for seep water. At this point, we're a little confused, because this is a big fish and it was tailing in about a foot or 2 of water. I fought the fish up and down the canal for about an hour. By the time we got it to the surface, it was pitch black out.
Turns out, it was about a 35-40# drum. To this day, its one of my favorite fishing pictures. All you can see in the picture is me, the fish, and the gunwale behind me.

Favorite outdoor thing...
Sitting in the duck blind in the dark waiting for shooting light. Quiet listening to the marsh around you and watching the stars above, dog anxiously awaiting shooting light. It’s as close to a heavenly experience as I’ll likely get during my lifetime.

July 4 last year my son landing a bull red by himself just he and I in the boat. Teamwork in action it was great.
Youth hunt in MS last year my son shot a monster of a buck first buck and it was just a surreal moment for us but especially me. Had some great friends that made the hunt happen and were a huge part of it after the shot. Great times can’t wait for more!

My favorite experience is sitting in a duck blind on opening morning of big duck season, waiting on shooting hour, and hearing a few ducks calling back, and buzzing around.
I have a few favorite memories, but one that stands out to me right now is fishing with my fiance' (now wife) last year on the bend, and she hooks a 4 or 5 pound catfish in 35 feet of water, on her bream pole. I watched her fight with it for a few minutes before finally landing it in the boat. It didn't matter that it was just a catfish; it was the biggest fish she had ever caught. She was so excited and proud. I have a nice picture of the moment with her holding it up with a great big ole smile on her face.

My favorite experience was when I was in my kayak fishing in a secluded shallow lake at the end of a canal off Escambia Bay Florida). I was fishing for redfish with dead shrimp, so I was kind of daydreaming while waiting on a bite. I was startled by the sound of dolphin blowing air. All of a sudden the pod started circling an area in the lake making a hell of a racket. Then one by one they would take turns going into the center of the circle to eat fish. There is a name for this behavior and I can't recall it. Watching that was the coolest thing ever.
