Looking at getting a newer vehicle and after pricing extended warranties with dealers I am thinking there has to be a better option. Are there other options for aftermarket extended warranties? other than the dealer? Any experience with these? Thanks

I’ve heard the ones you see advertised on tv are tough to get them to pay out and cover anything.

The pricing IS negotiable.
At first tell tell them no… they’ll come down from there, then it’s negotiations

aftermarket extended warranties

hear nothing but bad things about them. Their job is to take your money and deny your claims.

If you get a ford, check out the prices at flood city ford. It is the ford warranty, but much cheaper.

Geico used to offer a good one, I don't know about now. It's just a really expensive insurance policy.

Buy Toyota or Lexus. Skip extended warranty.

You'll get a call about it in the next day or two.

Use caution, most of the items that break on a vehicle, they don’t cover, they have a list of a number of item, but some they will, some they won’t. Depends on what you are buying, a friend of mine, his main job is to certify cars. My relatives own dealerships, leasing was the best thing for dealership owners. They lease it, then sell it. They don’t lose.

When I had to replace my totaled 2018 in December I bought one through La auto dealers. Haven’t used it yet so no idea if it was worth the $.
I do have two sensors that need replacing but haven’t taken in to ford for repair.

Matt Bowers has a real warranty that covers things that break like window motors. Maybe $3000.00 for 100,000 miles. You can pay more for 125/150,000 miles.

Power train warranties cover big stuff that just does not break that often. This warranty will probably out last my wife.

Negotiate it with the dealer. They’ll come down on the price.

I purchased one on a used tundra with 40k miles on it back in 2014. I ended up having to replace 3 out of 4 window motors a few years after that and it paid for itself just with those. I would check the coverage and if it is for issues like that, I would definitely do it. I drive high miles though and burn through the standard warranty quickly.

I thought those were scams as others have said. I bought my wife a new armada In 2023, bought a bumper to bumper 6yr/100k mile warranty for 2200$. I know it may not have been the best deal but I didn’t want to have to pay to fix anything for 6yrs.

You can get on that specific vehicle forum and there is usually a dealer somewhere in the country that that is selling them for $50-$100 more than cost. Kia of Muncie, IN was selling the cheapest extended warranty for the telluride. You don't have to get it locally, but i think you have something like 30 days/5,000 miles to purchase.

This.

I had never bought an extended warranty on a vehicle before my current truck. I told them no three times before they came down to a price where I thought it was worth it. In the end I'm glad I did. Later the same month, my youngest son decided he wasn't waiting 13 more weeks to be born and ended up spending 119 days in the NICU in New Orleans. Ran up a ton of miles on my truck those first few months.
