Exactly why the fishery is overfished in waters reachable by bay boat. Every tom, dick, and harry that has an 18’ alumacraft or bigger go out there and rape the 16” fish.

The snapper are far from endangered, but we don’t have as healthy of a mature population as an abundance of guys seem to think.

bullshite. The mature population is ravenous and getting bigger.

It's only overfishing if the bar is set low. And believe me, the bar is set low.

Yep. There’s gonna be zero days of snapper regardless of where you fish in the GOM.

Yeah, no.

It will be a cold day in hell when they shut down the commercial fishery, which makes this entire drama a joke. The commercial fishery kills more lbs of fish in bycatch than the other two sectors combined harvest. That's their dirty little secret that blows the environmental argument out of the water, they get the most ROI on their catch shares if they bring slot sized snapper to market, but bandit rigs don't discriminate. If this was actually about the species being preserved and stabilized, and not just a money grab, then there would still be a moratorium in place.
