Experience with cuddy cabin

Been in the market to swap my bay boat out for a offshore model. I've predominately switched my fishing style from marsh/bays to coastal and nearshore rigs and tired of getting beat up and having to stay at camp on days with a chop. Wanting to get a 24-28' offshore with twin engines so can still trout fish and then be able to safely and easily hit rigs for snapper, cobia, etc as well as tuna runs when conditions are right.
To the point I Have a co-worker that's wanting to sell his 28' cuddy, boat looks clean and well taken care of and in my price range but was deadest on a center console. With cuddy I would loose bow space but with wife and two little ones thinking cuddy may way to go? Wondering if any ob'ers own or have experience with cuddy boats and could offer any opinion?

Cabin will collect junk and stay terribly hot while killing fishability
helm is further forward, rougher ride

frick a cuddy. It's a waste of space and an arse whipping. I guess they'd be fine on a lake.

Im not a huge fisherman but I have a SeaRay cabin cruiser. I can tell you that the cabin will be unbearably hot and pretty much useless in the summer unless it has an A/C. Cuddy cabins are popular up north for a reason,, its cooler up there. Unless you plan on spending the night every fishing trip I would suggest sticking with the center console.

Don't fricking do it man. It's an enormous waste of space and glorified storage compartment. My dad has one that I have fished out of occasionally for many years. It's just not practical for 99% of applications.

I had a 1984 Chaparral 204 walk around cuddy quite a few years back that was a fishing machine...

Why do you want a cuddly... I love d my '01 Grady White Marlin... but it had generator and AC. Totally different ballgame. Fuel is so expensive to buy for twin engine big boats that it makes more sense to run out and stay a night or 2 before coming back in. But you can't do it without AC... JMO

Growing up, my dad had a Grady White cuddy cabin. One thing I liked about it was he had a functioning head in it. It was nice when you were fishing and had to take a dump. Or when he brought my mom fishing with him and she had to pee.

I have a cuddy and love it. However, if I had it to do all over again I'd get a walk around.

2x what everyone has said plus it will get a moldy smell. The front is dead space.
Check out something like the Edgewater 28. Not a cuddy per se but serves a similar purpose for the family yet more useful up front.

I disagree. But will preface with it depends. The best time to fish is in the summer because that is when it is calmest. It is hot during the summer in case you didn't already know that. So how do you beat the heat? Fish at night. We always did most of our offshore fishing at night.
No triggerfish to contend with. Don't sweat your arse off. Don't come home with sunburn from hell and get cancer.
Get caught in a downpour the cabin is nice.
Big arse boat like you are taking about should have a lot of space for you, the wife and kids.
Can you open a hatch and get a breeze through the cabin. If so the heat might not be as bad as mentioned here.
Just trying to give the other side of the coin.

These days many of the center consoles have a head in the console.
I personally wouldn't ever own a boat with a cabin unless it was air conditioned.
