A. How many here have a gun that has been used to actively protect yourself or your family? (not simply there for when you need it, but has actually been needed whether fired or not in that circumstance)
B. And what portion or percentage of your firearms have been used in the commitment of suicide or homicide?
(for the purpose of this thread include weapons used by military personal during operations as protective not murderous)
A. 3 separate firearms over 3 instances
B. 0/20+ or 0%

Hopefully that C category is low for most.

Hopefully so. That was the only gun ever returned to us out of a closet full of handguns, rifles and shotguns back in the '80's. At today's prices, conservatively speaking, $20k in guns alone. Only gun they didn't get was the 44 under pop's mattress.

A - All of them I once owned when they fell out of the boat I was travelling in and lightened the load to avoid sinking said boat.
B - It is normally very easy to spot a gun that was used in a suicide due to finish damage. Homicide? Don't think LE are in the habit of selling those back to the public but some small number probably get through...
