What on your list and why?

My person list is:
1911-Carry weapon, it's history and shooting enjoyment.

Glock or any other affordable reliable pistol- truck gun

Deer rifle- Not going to argue over caliber or manufacture, just a gun you can kill a deer with.

.22LR- Squirrels have to die and kids have to learn.

AR-15- If shite hits the fan I'm going down swinging; they are also extremely fun to plink with.

12 Gauge- Again, person preference on manufacture, but everyone needs a good 12 gauge.

Lever-action 30-30- Why? Because everyone should have one in their safe.

This does not list every gun I own or want, just the list of the essentials.

I don't think an AR-15 is essential for any sportsman or southerner. Fun, but not essential.

I got all dem.

Except the 1911 which will be my very next purchase.

I would add some historical weaponry to the collection just for funsies. I have a Mosin and a Garand from my grandfather. Stepdad has a couple neat Civil War era swords. Not worth a whole lot, just neat because of historical significance.

A nice field grade America made, double barrel shotgun from the early 20th century should also be considered. Fox, LC Smith, Parker, Lefever...

Almost bought a pair of LC's recently but they were a little rough around the edges and didn't really suit my collecting style. Did pick up 2 minty Browning Citori O/U though. A matching 20ga and 12ga, can never go wrong with a high quality O/U and their values are incredibly consistent.

Im surprised there us no M1 Garand in the op.

I don't know maybe it shouldn't be on the list but its one that i really would like to own due to its history and dependability.

Although honestly mine would be collector type piece that was actually issued.

For pistols alone, I've found the need for:

1) Daily carry. Quite concealable, but preferably in a worthy caliber (G19, G26, arguably Kahrs and Shields). Could be a 1911 for some but most of us working office jobs couldn't do it.
2) Deep carry. LCP or similar, arguably Kahrs and Shields fit here too.
3) Range workhorse/weapon for courses - Probably a solid capacity polymer
4) Ideal fighting gun/bedside gun - Could be #3, could be your most reliable 1911, HK45, etc.

I've never really understood the concept of a truck gun, but I assume it is similar to my #3.

Should have at least one classic US military rifle represented. M1903, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, or M14.

Essential

One medium bore rifle (270, 308, 30 06, 7mm etc)
One shot gun (12, 16, 20 ga)
One hand gun (revolver or pistol)

Only need these three guns and you can basically hunt everything and have a weapon for self defense.

If you count my .35 Remington lever action then I have all of those you mentioned. Might I add a Beretta M9 to that list.
