It's like all the rest of the public land in Louisiana they want to make it as hard as possible to access

Fished it yesterday, just have to walk everywhere. Not too miserable if you have a wagon

You can drive on about 200 yards of it but not within about 30 yards of the beach. Everything to the right of where you normally pull in is closed.

What exactly are they doing? When does it reopen. I drove out there once a few weeks ago but didn't feel like walking.

Access to the east side of Elmer’s Island will be restricted to foot traffic starting on March 21 as active construction continues on the largest coastal restoration project in state history, the Caminada Headland Beach and Dune Restoration project.

No expected finish date on DWF but I imagine it won't be soon.

I love when contractors and govt officials blame project delays on things like "unexpected weather" or "winter weather".

What? You mean the weather gets bad in the winter? You don't say!
