I am not crazy about the trigger in my S&W sporter. What trigger do you recommend for replacement?

Yeah, how about we tone it down a bit.

RRA NM 2-stage is a good upgrade and easy to DIY.

What kind of trigger do you want? A fast 3 gun trigger? A smooth 2-stage? A crisp single stage?

AR Gold or Geissele SD3G if 3 gun
CMC 2 stage, RRA, or Geissele SSA-E if 2-stage
CMC single stage if single stage

AR gold is my favorite

Haven't played with a Tac Con, but I hear they're pretty sweet

what do you wanna spend? CMC will run you a little over 200. Geissele will run you about 220. RRA will run you about 120

I'm a beginner with this rifle so not sure. I took it to the range, shot well with it. However, I did not like the fact I had too many unintentional second shots. Couldn't get a feel for the trigger, if that makes sense.

Might want to get a little more trigger time first. The standard mil-spec trigger is heavy but it should be predictable. If the rifle is that new then you might want to get a vice block or some dummy rounds and work that trigger with some dry-fire practice. Give it a good cleaning and a little lube and work it for a few hundred cycles.

Is your dis-connector working correctly?

To function test it separate the two halves of your AR.

Cock the hammer back. Pull on the hammer to make sure it does not inadvertently fire without pressing the trigger.

Pull the trigger, use your other hand to let the hammer gently fall instead of slamming into the receiver. Keep the trigger pressed down all the way. Pull the hammer back and it should click and engage the disconnector. The hammer should not fall. Take your finger off of the trigger. The trigger should now engage the hammer and the trigger is now reset. It will audibly click a second time. If you are getting double taps your disconnector might not be functioning properly.
