Northeast Ms was terrible. Worst season I ever had. Did not even get to shoot at a Greenhead.

Averaged about 1.3 specs per gun per hunt. Pretty good for us. Ducks didn't show up til last weekend. Shot a few dozen through the season

Personally had 73 ducks over 24 hunts for 3.05 ducks per hunt. Mainly hunted 2 places, Venice and Sherburne. Sherburne yielded 9 ducks on 8 hunts for a 1.125 average. Venice yielded 64 ducks on 15 hunts for a 4.3 average.

My 9 year old son shot 40 ducks himself all in Venice. Our group in venice mainly consisted of my dad, his hunting buddy, myself and my son. Had fiends, family mixed in occasionally. We killed just over 400 for the year. Great year by any standards.

Overall a poor season in our Jones bean and rice fields. Started good with over 400 ducks in the first split. Got stale in the second split with the food disappearing. May not have cleared 650 total with very few double digit hunts in the second split. In NELA, the ducks were in the timber in January.

Mostly marshes of SE La public, one on private land, also two hunts in fresh marsh below Lake Arthur. Tallied up my season totals below:

80 grays
61 GW teal
27 BW teal (24 from early Sept season)
19 shovelers
12 mallards
5 mottleds
3 pintail
6 redheads
4 wigeon
5 ringnecks
4 dosgris/lesser scaup
3 buffleheads
1 woody

206 ducks regular season on 29 hunts, 230 with the early teal season (8 hunts) included.

Was far better than previous season (just over 100 birds), and more on par with previous few seasons ranging from 220 to 270 birds. Daily average of around 7 ducks is deceiving, though, since we had a decent many limit hunts but also a good many at 2-4 birds. Many days saw plenty but had hard time really getting on them more than a day or two in a row.

Can't wait for September

Theres nothing like hunting the marsh. Hard work, but when it pays off its the most rewarding of all. Until next year

Worst year in a while. New club needs a high river, which we never got. Lots of woodies and teal. Not a lot of mallards, which is what I'm after. Of course the mallards are showing up this week. Thanks Obama.

SELA Marsh.

I didn't keep a tally this year, but we guestimated 550-600 birds taken off of the lease this year. Mostly greys, but we killed teal, dogs, couple mallards, saw some pintails one day, spoonies, redheads, a goldeneye, buffleheads, mottled ducks, ringnecks, hoodies, and saw some geese.

We killed a lot more dogs this year than last year. Last year, we only killed/saw one and it was on opening day. This year, they saved a lot of hunts. Less greys were around this year than last, but we still had a lot. The most noticeable difference between this year and last was the lack of teal. We hardly killed any teal this year, whereas last year we were averaging 1-2 per hunt per hunter. We also didn't kill/see a whole lot of spooners.
