Duck Hunters....when do you start spraying your marsh to kill vegetation?

Just curious. When do you start spraying your marsh to try to kill back some overgrowth? My group of guys are in a hurry to get it done. I am in the minority that thinks its still a little too soon. But they are more worried about teal season, and I am more worried about regular season.

What kind of vegetation? I'm hoping the grad on my lease doesn't get killed

It can never be too soon IMO. Getting some sprayed now will mean you have to spray less later on. It's much easier to make more trips to spray than trying to make one or two trips to get everything sprayed.

hasn't been sprayed in about 5-6 years and the marsh grass, bull whips, etc have started to take over many of the ponds/open water. We will probably have to spray from a plane to knock most of it out instead of spraying ourselves from boats.

Oh you have some work on your hands there. Might be good to get it sprayed early so you can try and get some grass to grow before the season.
We have to deal with lilies. So that is where I'm coming from.

most of the lilies in our marsh die off as it gets colder.

Depends on what kind of grass. I sprayed a bunch of ox tongue about a month ago. That shite will take over a pond quick if you don't get pro active about it. I seent it

Chill out there. We are killing the lilies that clog up the ponds and waterways. The state used to spray them every year in the main channels.

If that's the case by all means spray away. Lol
