Arkansas hunters face charges for hunting cats

Taking pictures with them? Come on. Anybody knows you kill a cat, you just leave it there. Who goes pick them up?

A lot of folks get themselves in trouble on social media nowadays.

Let's be honest, if you've got a feral cat problem these things happen. Just don't take pictures and don't shoot someone's pet.

FWIW... I'm not saying that those ultra quiet low velocity 22CB rounds work really well for cats, but I'm not denying it either.

man, I hate cats, but i wouldn't kill anyone's pet. I do recognize the detrimental effect that feral cats, and even housecats, have on wildlife though.

the juxtaposition with duck hunting is interesting though. why is it wrong to kill one and not the other? Just a cultural thing.

what if your neighbor's pet duck flew into a hunting area?

I agree that there's little justification for shooting someone's pet.

In my last community we had a major feral cat problem. By major I mean dozens of mange and disease ridden cats roaming a small cul-de-sac area and breeding. These weren't pets but we did have one dumbass neighbor leaving food for them from time to time.

My wife had parked her car in the garage one evening and had left the sunroof open. Apparently a cat had found its way into the garage and took up residence in the car overnight. The upholstery was shredded and the urine smell in the car was so strong your eyes would water. Some weeks later a big tom cat wandered into my fenced yard and got in a tussle with my dogs. The dogs killed the cat but not without leaving me with a few hundred dollars in Vet bills as the ol' tom put up a good fight apparently.

Between reupholstering the car and the Vet bills we'd had enough and so had the neighbors. We called animal control and they said they would loan us traps to catch them. Then they told us it would be a few weeks because they had a list of people wanting to use the traps. We bought our own traps and called animal control when we caught our first cat.

Their response was something I'll never forget. They told my wife that they wont be able to get the cat until the following day or possibly the day after and suggested that we bring it to a local animal shelter. Keep in mind this cat is pissed and would tear you up if you got close enough to the trap. My wife tells the animal control people that she isn't putting the trap in her car. They proceed to tell her that its no coincidence that the traps fit perfectly in a 5 gallon bucket full of water.

I'm an animal lover but believe me I'm not going to tolerate having my shite destroyed by a feral cat and a 22 between the eyes is lot more humane than being drowned in a bucket of water.

I'll simply say that over the next few weeks the feral cat problem resolved itself due to a collaborative effort among the local homeowners and the fine people at Remington.

I have a few of these bastards that post up in my garage from time to time. Some of you might remember my backpack that I got for Christmas last year being doused in cat piss, along with my chest freezer and fishing gear.

I think I might have to trap a few of these bastards.

Could be the same situation with this story. These type of neighbors normally do claim them as pets. Is there anything in the article that says different that I missed?
