I have been given the task to locate a few different duck guides for a client. He is not looking for the whole experience. So really not looking at places like Grosse Savanne!

He wants a place he can drive in that morning, meet a guide, go hunt, throw his birds in the back of his truck, change clothes and go back to work. His travels will put him between BR, Lafayette and Lake Charles a lot in January so that is why SWLA. All hunts will be weekday!

Recommendations? Avoids?

John Saucier hunts on the Pettigen farm which is probably best property to hunt on in SWLA. Look him up on facebook. He's with Hennings guide service.

Scott Ihli is also a good guide. He guides for himself. Look him up as we'll

Scott Ritchey with Louisiana Outfitters runs a quality operation with good guides. He is located in Lacassine between Lake Charles and Lafayette. He is also on FB if you want to look him up.

I had a good experience driving in for a day hunt at Doug's Lodge. They even fed us twice (before and after hunt).

HR&G always has birds. I'm sure he could work out a deal just to hunt and not lodging, meals etc.

I don't know if Anthony guides around Hackberry for ducks. I think he strictly fishes over there and guides in Winnie, TX for Drake Plantation.

I'm pretty sure you can do a drive-in with HR&G. However, they are strictly 2 men plus a guide set-ups and they are a little on the upper end as far as money is concerned. But, you get what you pay for with them. That means super nice blinds, good guides, and more than likely a bunch of ducks. Plus, you get a breakfast before the hunt if you get there early enough and probably a bowl of gumbo after.
