I decided to start a thread showing the progress I have made on my duck boat. I bought it from a guy in Henderson in April. It is a 14' x 52" flat-bottom Alweld, with a 16hp Vanguard on a homemade "go-devil" frame.

When I first got the boat it needed some engine work.

Basic Stuff like a carburetor clean out. Some the things that were bought and installed were: New fuel line system including filter and fuel shut off valve. Dirt bike clutch handle install for throttle. Safety kill switch. New muffler.

Previous owner said he enjoyed the sounds of open headers. Not me.

Then it was off for painting.
Prep work including washing and a little sanding.

Then me and a buddy applied black bedliner for the basecoat and to add some texture to the aluminum.

After a few coats of that I started on the camo layer. Found some side of the road brush and I used 4 camo color rattle cans.

I think it turned out pretty good.

Now on to the electrical systems...

I have a 41.5" LED light bar to install..

I also am running red LED light strips along the interior for interior lighting. Also a bilge pump.

Also some fab work still needs to be done although I'm going in reverse order. I need to cut a window out underneath the front deck and on the bench seat as there is ZERO storage on this boat. Also I need to get a grab bar welded.

For the floor I plan on doing Insularpink and a huge rubber mat.

I will update the OP as I install more and move along towards the start of teal season.

Update 1: Light bar installed and man is this thing bright!!! It hurts my eyes even catching it at a glance. It came out awesome!!

I also installed the interior leds but I plan on re wiring them so hide the wires a little better

this pic was taken at noon!

taken around 7:30

trees are about 60yds away!

looks good but need to re wire

Camo looks great. Certainly an improvement from how you got it.

How do you expect it to perform with the bed liner on the outside? I know there are several products that people put on surface drives to make the bottom even slicker than painted aluminum. I would think bed liner would make it stick easier and cost you some in performance because if drag. I guess it's all about where you use it though.

Would of never used bead liner on the outside. Over all, it looks good, but camo the motor too!

The Bedliner isn't as thick as you are thinking it is.. Nothing at all compared to a rhino lined truck bed. Not even close.

My buddy did his boat a few years back this exact way and i couldn't tell any difference in performance. Plus I won't be breaking any speed records when I'm loaded down. 10mph will probably be max. And I will hunt flooded timber most of the time, so no mud to contend with.

Thanks I did paint the motor I just don't have any pics of it.

Although I need an opinion, I plan on doing this for the floor YouTube do you think that will hold up for a season?

For our under floor flotation we used a box of pool noodles. Cut to length and glued em to the floor. Was pretty cheap. I feel like that pink stuff will break apart pretty easily.

The floor on ours is just treated plywood. Primed it really well, put a shitload of coats of paint on it, then a bunch of layers of urethane. Put it down and screwed it in the epoxied over the screws. Stuck the hydroturf to that. Figure it should last pretty damn long cause it won't get scratched up with the hydroturf on it.

I really like that paint job, makes me want to try it on the hull of ours

That'll probably get you through the season though
