I see several blinds (or maybe just the remnants) south of I10 ABB. does anyone actually hunt those? I don't even see pouldeau out there anymore, so I was wondering if what I'm seeing are duck blinds or something else?

They were duck blinds until the hunting got so bad they were abandoned. They are now nutria communes. I was one jigging sacalait around a blind and peeked inside. 30 nutria has turned that thing into a soup kitchen

Those are duck blinds last time I fished there they were still functional

Like the area where the original duckmren videos were filmed - devoid of ducks for the most part

I remember back around 1980/81 an outdoor show had a brief clip of about 75 mallards going into dekes like dos Gris - but the basin as a whole held more ducks then

Why are there no ducks there anymore? No cover? no feed? what's the deal?

I think there are about three threads a week for the past few months on the Outdoor board.

Yeah I'm aware of those, but Henderson specifically. It looks ducky. Just wondering why they don't go in there.

A combination of many things, an excessive number of sugarasses being one of them, is responsible

Siltation in the basin as a whole is likely the root cause, along with native beneficial submergents being overtaken by invasive and salvinia and dramatically increased motorboat traffic - all week long from years ago. Along w less hospitable ag use nearby and. The no corn - but even if u put corn now wouldn’t help

I think all I've ever seen in the area I'm referencing is 1 or 2 woodies in the 12 years I've been commuting. Thus my question. I couldn't believe anyone actually hunted on the big water.

From what I understand, you could hunt anywhere in Louisiana before they started breaking ice and using nets up north. People were shooting way more than their limits daily. Now they have to hunt and it is no fun.
