Put up a spot along a rub line that borders a local refuge. There is sign all around at about 50yds behind my spot. I have corn, ricebran, a salt block, sometype of throw n grow seeds and 3 day harvest out there. Been having mainly the corn and ricebran out about a month and the others only about 3 weeks. Set my camera out and left it alone for around 3 weeks and I have zero on camera besides an occasional coon. Any suggestions on what I could do? There are tracks all up and down where they are crossing but I cant get them to come any closer.

give it time. I cut trees, put up a stand and feeder in a 50 yd area over the last 3 weekends. This is high ground that i know deer frequent. I only have 2 pictures of an 8 pt in 2 weeks but only had 1 camera out. Yesterday i put out two more cameras on two other entrances to the levee. They may be coming close to your feeder but are keeping their distance for now. They will find it when they are use to all the new sights and smells
Depending on how use to new sights/smells/sounds they are, i've seen them come out at times that you thought you scared off every deer within a mile radius Other times, they are no where to be seen for weeks.

Questions: Are you sure there are sign all around? If you got that much food sitting out, then something will eat it.

How often are you visiting the site? I know you said you left the camera alone for 3 weeks, but is there other disturbance in the area? Are you bringing food out there every day?

Is the camera on the food or on a trail?

I set up along the rubline because I caught a pic of a nice buck on it last year. I found where he is crossing that's 50ys behind me but its right on the border of private property. I guess I could always jump in a climber where he is crossing later in the season but I was hoping to draw him back down that rubline he used last year.

Still early for them to be hitting corn and rice bran. Give it another month for what's left of the natural browse to go away

I haven't been there in 3 weeks, completely stayed away. Now I did make a shite load of noise getting the site ready but haven't been out there. I walk all my feed back there now so I don't disturb it with my 4wheeler. I have the camera on the food. Should I go clear out a small area along his current trail and just get that ready for my climber?

Are you suggesting not putting a camera on the food because it will scare them from it? Ive always put cameras on trails and on food sources. Maybe im doing in wrong?

i'd try protein pellets of sorts, not corn or brand right now.

This is what Im going to do and let me know what you think. Im putting out another camera at the trail they are using and debating on putting feed on that trail aswell just to make them hesitate around that area. Leaving it alone until the week before hunting season and then checking cameras to see which area (initial feeder area or trail) has been most productive. Then hunt that area opening day. Thoughts??

I always put the camera on food source that will make them stop. No matter how quick your camera is, if you put the camera on the trail, you will get a lot of empty shots or just the tail of a passing deer. Even throwing down a handful of corn will get them to stop long enough to get a good pic.

Back to the OP, I put out corn last week and I have pics of deer that night. I assume your camera is IR, but even IR cameras will spook deer that aren't used to them.

Sounds like you've got a lot of different odors out there that is new to the deer.

Maybe get some packs of kool-aid and sprinkle on corn and rice bran. The smell might get their attention.

Also, I find they come better to just a pile of food rather than a feeder.

Not allowed to feed on the refuge and no one has hunted this area in 4+ yrs. itll be on once I get them to it, its just getting to that point.

Usually put vanilla extract in my rice bran.

also, try screwing a peanut butter top to a tree. Screw jar back onto top and cut off bottom. Its a deep Popsicle

Seriously, If your feed is disappearing and you don't have pictures, it may be the camera. I've put two cameras on the same tree and had 15 pictures on one and 150 on the other. Game cameras are built as shitty now as electric filet knives.

I switched them out to see if thats the problem. They are both brand new but your right, that dont mean shite these days. Im thinking its mainly coons eating my corn right now, there must be a family of 20 back there.

Man i have 6 different brands of cameras for my 6 cameras. All of them at some point, besides 1 i think, will take pictures when it wants and the night clarity varies. Sometimes i get tons of great pictures others not so good. I can walk in front of cameras to dump feed and sometimes no pictures of myself . i now use those as back up until i can replace a broken one
