The doveweed is back. Anyone know what I can spray to kill it? Thanks.

I used Atrazine to kill some patches. My neighbor likes this stuff called Blindside.

Atrazine for dove weed. Expect some yellowing in the turf.

Dang, blindside is expensive. I will spray atrazine. Is there a recommended mixture? I just put some nitrogen down this morning. Should I wait? Thanks.

Likes wet areas, so that's why it is so rampant around here right now. Is invading my bermuda fields...hate it.

Can I spray it even though I drop nitrogen this morning?

Saw a ton of it at BREC Manchac Park last night while I was shooting bows. That place is basically a swamp right now.

Yeah it is expensive but he's and old guy who doesn't want to put out much effort and get results.

You worried about it affecting the absorption of the nitrogen? Wouldn't hurt to wait a few days I guess. I don't know of any specifics about that, but I did get some yellow spots on my turf for a week or two.

If the ground is pretty wet I've found the patches pulled up rather easily. Just bag the flowers so you don't drop any seeds. Same goes for any weed picking.

I don't know what I am worried about, that is why I am asking. I am not sure if the two chemicals could possibly cancel each other out. The nitrogen is supposed to make the grass greener and you say the atrazine may make it yellower, so I just wanted to make sure.

These are pretty good size strips and not little patches.

If you are spot-spraying, shouldn't be an issue. If you are broadcast treating, I'd wait until your turf was able to uptake the fertilizer.

I will be doing a 5 foot stretch along my fence and some other 3-4 foot strips about a foot wide or so.

50% of my backyard was doveweed last year, down to less than 1% this year.

you have to stay on top of it or it will take over.

i used celcius and good old pulling by hand.
pull the dead dovewweed while you still have growing time left to fill in those areas.

i do the same with virginia buttonweed.

I neighbors yard is infested with this stuff. I keep it at bay at the fence line with 2,4-D.
