So, I have a rescue. The most loyal, sweetest, loving dog ever. This dog has a serious fetish for digging, and laying in/rolling in dirt.

They stay outside during the day, and I wanna bring them in when I'm done with work, but they're FILTHY.

Short of giving them a bath or hosing off every day, is there any other thing I can try?

The bath just makes them super hyper, then they get out and go right for the dirt again.

Wick is right, everytime I decide to bring my dog with me fishing, he finds a pile of rotting fish and rolls in it.

The dog is hot and the dirt is cool, that's why it's digging and rolling in it.

It is hot for him. He digs because hot air rises and cold air sinks. Get him a kiddie pool.

I have a nice covered patio for them, along with a constant supply of cold water to drink. Guess the kiddie pool is gonna happen tomorrow.

Put dat cayenne in da dirt baw

My dog use to dig here and there. Sprinkle alil cayenne in it, stopped that shite with the quickness. Besides randomly rolling around in dirt and not just one spot..... Thats just a dog being a dog

While it won't help your situation, the best idea I saw recently was a buddy of mine built an elevated wash bay off of his garage. If dog comes back dirty and muddy he puts her up on the table and sprays her down and dries her off real quick. Takes him all of 5 minutes.

yeah the dog is hot and trying to cool off
kiddie pool is what we do
otherwise you might think about a doggie door so he can go in and out
the heat has been brutal this summer

pretty damn good idea....I am not sure why there aren't more of these around.

you could actually build kind of a mud room for hunting & fishing stuff to be cleaned as well as a dog wash...

Its instinctual for a dog to roll in dirt to get rid of parasites also. I have a mut that stands on my couch and shakes every time I let her in.
