Best method to protect my sidekick? Collar doesn't seem to be helping at all.

Meds and a couple of baths should get rid of it. Scrub his arse good

I give my dog Nexguard and it works well. Hasn't had fleas yet

Bathe in Dawn soap, kills fleas on impact also, I give my dog Trifexis. It is really good medicine that is in pill form. Covers heartworm, fleas, and ticks.

If he lays on the sofa or bed, or if you have carpet, you also have to treat these.

These do not work at all. Get on some type of flea preventer medication. You need to treat your house and yard, really need to do it twice to also get the eggs that have been laid that have not hatched.

the drops. I tried the pills but my dof got sick from them, so I just do the drops once a month.

Comfortis, you'll see dead fleas coming off within 15 minutes of your dog taking it, good for 30 days. Any fleas that jump on and bite will die.

Got a terrier too. Give him a high dose of Advantage. I use the drip form. Dont bathe them 3 days before or after applying it. Keep your grass cut and keep him away from mangy dogs.

I used to use Bayer Tree and Shrub on all of my deer hounds. Worked like a charm. It can be found at Lowe's. I would put around 10cc down the dog's back. Now this was for full grown Walker hounds so you would have to adjust the dose accordingly. Very cheap and very effective.

Trifexis is amazing. Our fleas have, evidently, gotten immune to the Frontguard type liquids that you put on the dogs aS we had 2 years worth of flea infestations on our labs in the summer. We switched to Trifexis, and have had zero problem for the last two years.

That being said: it isn't advertised to kill ticks, but we don't seem to have problems with ticks since using it either.

Oh.. it ain't cheap, either.

Trifexis for my border Collie since she was old enough to take it. No flea or tick problems for 13 years and that includes her time as a working cow dog.

Capstar to kill all fleas currently on dog followed by monthly doses of Trifexis. My blue heeler has been on Trifexis since old enough to take it and its been 3 years with no fleas.

Comfortis works very well for fleas.

Best place to order only is Pet-i-supply.com .

Takes about 2 weeks to receive product as it is coming from overseas, but the price difference is worth the wait.

Topical applications, IMO do not work nearly as effectively and can cause irritation to your dog's coat.
