Seems like a decent deal for $180. Is there a catch?

Yes, but luckily haven't had to use it to date. Good piece of mind to know they've got your back should an emergency arise in the water.

They have much of a presence in South LA? I was looking at their site and didn't see much mention of coverage areas. Buying a boat soon so definitely interested.

Yes, pays for itself pretty quick in fuel discounts. There are other discounts too, but I've never used them.

It is, and no. Buy it and be done with it. You'll thank yourself later.

It also may lower your boat insurance. Ask your agent.

we fish cat island and the Biloxi Marsh out of BSL so we have it just in case we get stranded out there solo but we have never had to use it

I've had it for a few years, it's hard to beat. Thankfully never had to use it but all I've ever seen were rave reviews.

Also the whole thing about it being good for me on my boat, as well as anyone using my boat, and also for any boat I'm on (if fishing with a buddy on their boat) is pretty awesome.

I used it last year in Chesapeake Bay after dead batteries right at dusk. Sea Tow came all the way from Va Beach in about 45 minutes to jump me off...well worth it

I just became a Boat US member. They provide towing, up to a certain cost. Would Sea Tow be a good addon?

If you are buying a boat and putting insurance on it then you may want to look at your policy.

I have sign and glide with progressive on my boat and it covers towing expenses up to 3k. It's about 60 a year on my coverage.

If you're a member you will get preference over non members for tow services (like on weekends. I also have reimbursement thru insurance, but was warned by Sea Tow that reimbursement only is no guarantee they will come tow you if other members need to be rescued.

Incredible service, was fishing with a friend in 23' hydra sport with cabin a couple months ago when we broke down at the end of the long rocks. It took them about 3hrs to get to us, but when they got there they towed us back on plane at 35mph. Very impressed.

I know there's a captain based out of Eden Isles in Slidell and I'm pretty sure there's one based on the Westbank somewhere.

I will say this, I ran out of fuel on the east pearl a few years back and it was about to get dark. I didn't have sea tow at the time but I called to see how much it would be for non-member service. Just for the guy to step out his door it was going to be $200/hr but once it turned dark it went up to $350/hr. And you pay from the second he walks out his door to the second he walks back in. By boat, he was a 45-60 minute ride from me. Plus I'd have to pay for a minimum of 5 gallons of fuel at $7 per gallon.

Is SeaTow worth it? Yup!
